Liberia chamber of commerce launches young business leaders club to foster next generation of private sector leaders

The Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC) on Friday, January 9, 2026, officially launched the LCC Young Business Leaders Club (YBLC), a new business initiative aimed at nurturing youth entrepreneurship development and leadership. This aligns with the Chamber’s strategic objective of developing the next generation of private sector leaders in Liberia.

The event brought together young entrepreneurs and emerging business leaders who are already making meaningful contributions to the country’s growing business landscape. The YBLC is designed to serve as a platform for mentorship, skills development, peer learning, networking, and leadership, connecting young ambition with opportunity through the Chamber.

Delivering the keynote address, Founder and CEO of J-Palm Liberia, Mr. Mahmud Johnson, encouraged participants to think boldly, dream big, and commit themselves to the long-term journey of entrepreneurship. He reminded the audience that business success is not a sprint, but a marathon—one that demands vision, patience, collaboration, and strong systems.

Drawing from his own entrepreneurial experience, Mr. Johnson challenged young entrepreneurs to move beyond small thinking, noting that it takes the same effort to think big as it does to think small. He emphasized the importance of trusting one’s ideas, building sustainable systems, and remaining consistent and disciplined, even in moments of fear and uncertainty.

He further highlighted the value of collective growth, stressing that platforms like the YBLC create opportunities for young entrepreneurs to learn from one another, share ideas, and grow together. “You can go fast alone,” he noted, “but you go farther together.”

Launching the Club, LCC Secretary General, Madam Catherine Karmo, reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to youth and women empowerment. She noted that the YBLC aligns directly with the Chamber’s strategic objective of strengthening Liberia’s private sector through intentional youth development.

Madam Karmo described the Young Business Leaders Club as a forward-looking initiative that will help prepare young entrepreneurs to innovate, create value, and assume leadership roles within the national economy. She encouraged members to take full advantage of the platform by actively engaging in mentorship, collaboration, and peer learning.

On behalf of the President and leadership of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce, Madam Karmo formally declared the LCC Young Business Leaders Club officially launched, calling on young entrepreneurs across the country to step forward and take ownership of Liberia’s economic future.
